ABS Engineering Resin Roof Tiles: Features and Limitations

The lifespan of resin roof tiles depends not only on the base material but also on the performance of the resin used for the surface layer. High-quality surface resins should have UV resistance, color stability, fire resistance, and anti-aging properties. Among the most common surface resins on the market are ASA and ABS, which differ significantly in both price and performance.

Poor Heat Resistance: ABS has a low heat deformation temperature, with standard ABS only able to withstand around 70°C. Even heat-resistant grades of ABS can only reach about 115°C, making it prone to deformation in high-temperature environments.

Weak Fire Resistance: ABS is combustible and has a HB fire rating, which does not meet residential fire safety standards, posing potential safety risks.

Inadequate Weather Resistance: ABS lacks durability against harsh outdoor conditions. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can lead to fading, aging, and cracking, significantly reducing its lifespan.
