Plastic Roof Tiles vs Colour Steel Tiles: Key Installation Differences

When considering roofing options, two popular materials are plastic tiles and colour steel tiles. The installation of these two types differs significantly in terms of technique and materials used.

Firstly, plastic roof tiles, often made from UPVC, are lightweight and can be easier to manage during installation. They typically require a base structure that provides adequate support, as they can be prone to bending if not properly aligned. In contrast, colour steel tiles are much sturdier and require a more robust framework due to their heavier weight.

Secondly, the installation process for plastic tiles usually involves interlocking systems, which can simplify the process, whereas colour steel tiles often necessitate additional fastening methods to ensure stability against harsh weather conditions.

Lastly, plastic tiles, including PVC plastic sheets for wall applications, tend to provide better insulation than their steel counterparts.

Choosing between these options will depend on specific needs, budget and the desired aesthetic for the roofing project.
