Explore the engineering resin materials of synthetic resin tiles: the difference between ASA and ABS

Synthetic resin tiles are a common building material. The engineering resin materials used in their production are directly related to their service life and performance. In the market, two common engineering resin materials are ASA and ABS, which have obvious differences in quality, weather resistance and price. The differences between ASA and ABS and their applications in synthetic resin tiles will be discussed in detail below.

First of all, ASA (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) is a high-quality engineering resin material with excellent weather resistance and anti-aging properties. It is widely used as the surface coating of synthetic resin tiles, which can effectively prevent fading and ultraviolet radiation, allowing synthetic resin tiles to maintain long-term color and appearance stability. In contrast, although ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) is also an engineering resin, its weather resistance and anti-aging properties are obviously inferior to ASA. ABS is often used as a cheap substitute by businesses, but its service life is short and it is easy to fade and age, so it is not suitable for the production of synthetic resin tiles.

Secondly, the price of good quality ASA engineering resin is relatively high, even 3-5 times that of poor quality ASA. This is because high-quality ASA engineering resin can ensure the long-term stability and durability of synthetic resin tiles, and will not fade or age after decades of use. In contrast, although poor quality ASA engineering resin is cheap, its weather resistance and anti-aging properties are poor, prone to fading and aging, and can only maintain a service life of about a few years. ABS is cheaper, but has a relatively short lifespan, is prone to fading, and is prone to brittleness.

Finally, when purchasing synthetic resin tiles, you need to pay attention to distinguishing the differences between new materials, fillers and recycled materials. Generally speaking, ABS is usually produced using recycled materials, while ASA mainly uses new materials, but there are also new and used materials. Therefore, it is crucial to choose a regular resin tile manufacturer with qualifications and certificates to ensure product quality and performance.
